How to send product care instructions with Shopify orders

Care information is most useful when it is connected to the purchase and easy to find later. For a maker or specialist studio, that means selecting the right products, checking the instructions and deciding how the customer receives them.

Choose the products that need the information

Start with a single product whose materials, finish and expected use you know well. Write care instructions based on your own tested guidance or the relevant material supplier’s instructions. A care card for a ceramic vase should not silently become the care card for a different finish or food-contact piece.

Prepare and preview the kit

In Digital Unboxing & COA Kit, save your maker name and select at least one eligible product. Add the care information and open the customer preview. Read the certificate and maker’s note too. Check the printed output and the experience on a phone before using it for a customer. Branding is optional: you can start with stock styling.

Choose the delivery method

You can share a personalised customer link, include the individual QR code on a print-ready parcel card, or print the matching documents. If you enable automatic customer emails, eligible new purchases can receive the kit link automatically. Manual kits stop for review. The app’s kit email is separate from Shopify’s standard order notification; do not assume installing it replaces that notification.

Check the first real order

Confirm that the order contains an eligible product, that the right number of kits was created and that the recipient can open the link. Email submission is not the same as confirmed inbox delivery. If you prefer sharing by card or direct link, record that separately so a successful manual handover is not mistaken for an inactive installation.
